Category: Bend or Joining
Applications:
The figure eight bend is a comparatively strong and secure knot for ropes of similar size and construction. It is less liable to jam and kinder to the rope in which it’s tied than a fisherman’s knot.
How to tie:
- Tie a figure eight in the end of one rope.
- Introduce the working end of the other rope and follow the lead of the original knot. This doubles the original knot.
- Work and pull the knot snug and compact.
This knot is also known as a Flemish Bend.
